Downtown St. Clair is dominated by Palmer Park, a ¼ mile park running parallel to the St. Clair River. A sandbar in the middle of the River forces river traffic to pass so close to the park you think you can reach out and touch the 1,000 ft. freighters when they pass while standing on the world’s longest freshwater boardwalk. The memorial bench program was implemented as part of the project and also ADA improvements to the sidewalks and parking lot.
