Story

The City of Auburn Hills has received more than $2 million in grant funding from the MNRTF. Grants have provided trails and trail connections, funded improvements to the E. Dale Fisk Hawk Woods Nature Center, enhanced recreation opportunities through the creation of playgrounds, shelters, and other amenities, and preserved natural areas along the Clinton River for outdoor recreation and scenic public access.

“These photos show just a glimpse of the great discoveries of nature that happen along the two-mile trail system at Hawk Woods – from woods, to meadow, to marsh, the MNRTF funded trail system provides a nearby ‘living window’ of opportunities for people of ages, but especially for our youth who today desperately need to be outdoors more often. Our Naturalist, Mr. Mike, has taken literally thousands of kids on trail hikes over the past 30 years, always stopping at the big tree [shown above] for some good, hands-on nature experiences.”
